John Brennan, PhD
John was Vice President, Innovation and Quality for Trouw Nutrition Canada, a global animal nutrition company and division of Nutreco. He led a multi-species team based in Guelph, Ontario, with a focus on developing and commercializing animal nutrition and health solutions. He has a proven track record of taking technologies from proof of concept to leading market positions, including dynamic simulation models, patented feed additives and management programs for raising animals without antibiotics (RWA). Previously, he spent two decades with Maple Leaf Foods, having first joined the company as a Research Scientist and later established and led an internationally recognized contract research business at Maple Leaf Animal Nutrition. He was later appointed Vice President of Research and Technology Application. John obtained a PhD in Animal Nutrition from the University of Alberta.
Klaus Hellmann, DVM
He is the founder and managing director of KLIFOVET since 1997, a Veterinary Contract Research Organisation that offers the management and conduct of efficacy and safety studies in Europe and abroad, but also full product development services and regulatory affairs services. From 1991 to 1994 Klaus worked at Pfizer, Germany, where he was involved in the conduct of clinical studies according to international guidelines, marketing support and regulatory advice to keep and/or obtain marketing authorisations for veterinary medicinal products (VMPs) and dietary feed.
Since 2005, Klaus is a Diplomate of the European College for Veterinary Pharmacology and Toxicology (ECVPT) and is currently its treasurer. Klaus obtained a certificate in veterinary pharmacology and toxicology (1995).
Pierre Falardeau, Ph.D.
Pierre is a doctor in pharmacology with more than 20 years of experience in the biotech industry, raising hundreds of millions of dollars in capital and conducting mergers and acquisitions and partnerships. Most recently, Pierre held the position of Chief Innovation Officer at Bio-K Plus International. Previously, he was President and CEO of Verlyx Pharma and prior to that, President and CEO of Ecopia Biosciences. Before joining Ecopia, Pierre was vice president of scientific affairs at Aeterna (now Aeterna-Zentaris). Pierre was Associate Professor at the Faculty of Pharmacy at Université Laval in Québec after spending five years at the Howard Hugues Medical Institute at Duke University in North Carolina with Drs. Marc Caron and Robert Lefkowitz (Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 2012). He is currently a strategic consultant actively involved in the biotech sector, and serves on the boards of directors of BIOQuébec and Montréal InVivo.
Carlos Artigas, DMV
Carlos Artigas is graduated in Veterinary Medicine in the specialty of Animal Production from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of Zaragoza. Throughout his professional career he has developed his work in the Animal Health Sector in 4 companies, occupying positions in Technical Services, Marketing, Commercial and Business Development and having held positions on the Boards of Directors of these companies. He has Global experience in the Animal Health and Prevention sector, having worked with the industry from different perspectives in more than 60 countries, which gives him a global vision of the sector. He has participated in the development of business strategies at a global level and has had responsibility for managing various subsidiaries on different continents. Passion, innovation and teamwork are the pillars on which he has based his work.
